Our story
I recall when I became a first time mom of a beautiful baby girl. It was an exciting time for me to give my baby her first real bath. I thought I was completely prepared. I had a typical hooded towel thrown over my shoulder and one of to the side. I bathed her from head to toe. I carefully tried to pick her wet slippery body up from the bath. My focus was holding her securely while placing her on the towel that was draped over my shoulder but as I leaned in to grab her, the towel fell off my shoulder. I wound up placing her on my chest getting myself very wet and then I grabbed a towel to place it over her. I did survive this experience but I have to admit, it was quite stressful, to say the least. As a mom I do not like being out of control. I felt like a really bad juggler but instead of juggling balls I was juggling a baby and a towel. So at that moment I said to myself there has to be a better way.
The Baby Top n’ Towel was born and my entrepreneurial journey began; I designed the first Baby Top n’ Towel bath system proto type and my mother helped by sewing it together. I decided to contact a patent attorney and shortly after I became patent pending. I eventually I obtained the patent.
In a five year span my family grew larger with the births of my sons. I knew I had a great idea but at this time of my life I was not sure on the course I should take so I put my dreams of launching the baby top n’ towel on hold. I took a few years interviewed other mom inventors, read a lot of books on every subject regarding selling your ideas, starting your own business , finding a manufacturer and lots and lots of self help books. I knew starting a company was going to be a definite challenge but decided to take it on. On September 15th 2008 Imagine It Yours became official.
As a mom/entrepreneur you really have to be very creative with your time keeping a balance between family and business. I personally don’t have the answers on how to create a perfect balance, sometimes the scale tips one way or the other. All I can say is for me I always have my personal and professional goals in mind (The End Result) and so I continually plug away.
